Classes, meeting September to June, are conducted for children three
years through eighth grade. Bible stories and Lutheran doctrines,
taken from the Bible, are included in the program. Baptized children
are enrolled in our Cradle Roll. Their parents receive materials for
home guidance and child rearing.
Adult Bible Classes (September to June)
Adult Bible Seminar: A class is conducted by Pastor Wismar for adults
in which the Bible is taught and discussed with direct application to
modern life.
"Christ and Coffee": An informal women's Bible Study, meets monthly in
members' homes, to discuss topics relevant to today's Christian woman.
The Bethel Bible Series: An intensive overview of the whole Bible is
taught by Pastor Wismar. The current area of study will include the
writings of the New Testament. Those with young children are invited
to bring them along.
(Wednesdays in two sessions after school)
An intensive two-year course on the fundamentals of the Christian faith
is offered for young people in grades 7 & 8, by which they are prepared
for Communicant Membership.
Adult Membership Instruction
These classes are for any adult who is considering membership in the
Lutheran Church, or who wishes to review the Biblical Doctrines on which
our faith is based. In this way prospective members are able to make a
clear decision based on personal conviction. Classes are offered by
Pastor Wismar as the need arises.
Fellowship and Service Opportunities
Affiliated with the International Lutheran Women's Missionary League,
this group provides an opportunity to gather for enrichment programs,
service projects and fellowship. Meetings are currently held on the
first and third Tuesday of the month at 1:00 pm. On the last Tuesday
of the month members assemble the church's monthly newsletter for
distribution and mailing.
This group serves the congregation by helping to prepare and maintain
the altar and chancel for regular and seasonal worship. Members serve
on a rotating basis about once every two months.
Tellers, Greeters, Ushers, and Nursery Care
Members of the congregation serve once every other month providing
friendly assistance to all at worship services, counting the day's
offerings, and caring for toddlers during worship.
Composed of members who know God answers prayer. They operate as a
telephone chain when someone has a special need or reason to rejoice.
A variety of special fellowship events, from church dinners to camping
events, road rallies to Christmas caroling, are held throughout the year
to help us get to know each other better and enjoy one another's company.

A men's group meets on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm and a women's group meets on
Fridays at 8:00 pm.
Individuals volunteer to help clean the church, mow the lawn, and
maintain the church grounds. Major clean-up events are scheduled in
Spring and Fall.
Dorothy Day Hospitality House
Members make sandwiches on a monthly basis and serve a meal on a
bi-monthly basis at this community soup kitchen in Danbury, Connecticut.
Filosa home, Hancock Hall, and the Lutheran Home
A variety of services to the residents of these elder care facilities
in Danbury and Southbury, Connecticut, is rendered by our parish
members. Pastor conducts a worship service on a rotating basis at the
Lutheran Home.
