Our Beliefs

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God, who came to this world in human flesh to be the only Savior of sinful mankind, that He gave His life for the sins of the world, that He rose from the dead, and that He shall come again on the last day of this world to judge the living and the dead. We believe that a person becomes an heir of heaven, not through his own merit or works, but solely through God's grace by faith in Christ. And we further believe that genuine faith in Christ will show itself in obedience to God and in love to all people.

Our History

The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, organized in 1969, is affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. (You might enjoy a visit to the official home page at www.lcms.org.) The name "Lutheran" came into existence over 400 years ago, but the teachings which stand behind that name are as old as the Christian Church. It was the determination of Martin Luther and other 16th century reformers to rid the church of man-made doctrines that came into practice during the Middle Ages, and to make the Scriptures the source and guide for all teaching. The people who agreed with Luther were given the name "Lutheran," and this name continues to this day. We believe that the Reformation was not the beginning of something new, but a return to the teachings of Christ and the Apostles as revealed in the Bible and expressed in the ancient creeds.

Our Mission

The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is a joyous and caring gathering of persons who experience the love and grace of God through our worship of Christ our Lord. Together we support, encourage, teach, and equip each other so that we may grow in our personal faith expression, bring Christ to those around us, and serve the Lord through our church.

Our Promise

To those who are now in the community, to those who visit us, to those who have no church home, and to all who would walk with us in faith, we promise true pardon and peace in the name of our Lord Jesus.

Here you will find services expressing our faith in hymns and liturgy. The Scripture-based pulpit message is delivered by pastors of conviction and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Here you can enjoy the company of fellow believers and join them in extending God's Kingdom.

Our Invitation

Belonging to a church is more than being included on a mailing list. We encourage you to come to your Savior, to hear Him speak to His will in your life.

In Romans 10, St. Paul writes,

"If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

May you join us in this conviction, and commit your life to Him today.

Thus we encourage you to prayerfully consider personally adopting the following:

  • I believe that Jesus is my Savior and that I have eternal life because He died for me.
  • I believe that He has thereby shown God the Father's love for me.
  • I allow the church to minister to my needs when I am spiritually or physically weak.
  • I respond to God's blessings by investing my time, abilities, and treasures.
  • I serve God by doing my best to make my church an effective agent of doing His will.
  • I witness to the world by sharing a loving concern for others outside my church.
  • I rejoice that I am God's and that He has made me His own.
  • I reflect this joyous relationship in my personal commitment to Him.

May God Bless You in Your Faith Commitment!
