Pastor Eric A. Wismar was installed as Associate Pastor of Good
Shepherd on August 29, 2004. On November 1, 2004, he assumed the
responsibilities of Pastor of Good Shepherd, succeeding our Pastor
Emeritus,
Roland M. Klauck
, who retired after 32 years of service to the congregation,
the District, and the community.
Eric Andrew Wismar was born to the Rev. Dr. Gregory Just Wismar and
Priscilla E. Wismar of Newtown, CT, on August 6, 1970. He grew up
in various towns throughout New England and graduated from
Newtown High School
in 1989. He received his bachelor of Arts degree from
Concordia College
in Bronxvillle, NY, in 1994.
He worked at
Immanuel Lutheran School
in Danbury, CT, for three years where he taught sixth, seventh, and
eighth grade. He then accepted a job with
Nova Group International
and worked in Tokyo, Japan for three years as an
instructor/trainer/administrator.
His vicarage/internship took place at
St. Luke Lutheran Church
in Cabot, PA, during the 2003-2003 school year. He completed his
Master of Divinity in August, 2004, and received a call to serve
as Associate Pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd
that same month.
He was installed as Associate Pastor of Good Shepherd on August 29.
In 1998 Eric married Miharu Akamatsu, whom he met while he was in
Japan, and they now have two children. Jorge Justin, who started
kindergarten last fall at
Consolidated School
in New Fairfield, is five years old; and Kai Karsten is three years
old. A third child, Luke Soren, became the newest addition to the congregation
on November 17, 2004.
